Application notes for single-layer systems

When using self-adhesive materials, it is essential to observe the processing instructions. This is the only way to ensure a secure, permanent bond and achieve optimum adhesion to the workpiece.

General conditions
The work for perfect bonding requires a dust-free, dry room that can be well ventilated. The processing temperature should be between approx. 15° and 25°.

Storage
Store in a dry place, do not expose to direct weather influences. Storage time is six months with appropriate storage.

1

Preliminary work

The surfaces to be coated must be precisely dimensioned and recorded in a corresponding list or sketch. For parts with cut-outs, ensure that the side with the self-adhesive coating is clearly labelled.

2

Cleaning the surface

The bonding surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned, dust-free and degreased. Make sure that a highly effective active cleaner (substitute similar to trichloroethylene) is used for cleaning. The cleaning cloths must be changed regularly to avoid ‘spreading or smearing’ the layers of dirt and grease.

3

Application of the cut panels

Remove the masking film from the cut sheets. Place the sheets on the workpieces to be covered. Ensure that the sheets are positioned exactly and precisely on the workpieces. The sheets must be pressed down over the entire surface. Air pockets (air cushions) must be avoided.

4

Liability/ final liability of the connected parts

Good initial adhesion can be assumed. In order to achieve final adhesion (during this time the adhesive flows into the open pores of the workpiece), the adhesive requires a bonding time (at room temperature of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius) of approx. 24 hours. During this time, the system must not be exposed to any vibrations or further contact pressure.

5

Vibra®Drain floor insulation system - polypropylene scrims

To ensure proper drainage, the drainage must not be subjected to body weight or used as a support for utensils. It must be ensured that the installation can be carried out by the responsible employee without the influence of weight. After installation, the floor area could be covered with wooden boards, for example, so that no pressure is exerted on the tangled fabric.

Customer trials and applications

In specific cases, we recommend the production of test samples to check the planned bonding. We will be happy to provide you with samples.
