Controlled transfer of building loads and movements

Controlled transfer of building loads and movements

1

Principle

The various components of a building undergo changes in shape and size during construction and in use. These movements can lead to overstressing at transitions and thus to damage. With LASTO®STRIP structural bearings, the structural loads can be transferred to the structure in a targeted manner via the high-quality elastomer support cores. By installing slab bearings, displacements and angular rotations can be absorbed, thus preventing cracks in the structure. The high-quality elastomer cores, the special silicone grease, the low-friction, impact-resistant sliding foils and the PTFE (Teflon) coatings have been combined and successfully tested in accordance with the requirements. LASTO®STRIP linear bearings are made exclusively from high-quality materials and therefore fulfil the highest requirements in terms of durability and sliding properties. LASTO®STRIP structural bearings provide a high-quality and durable solution for numerous applications.

2

Areas of application

LASTO®STRIP linear bearings are used wherever structural loads, movements and rotations need to be transmitted in a controlled and virtually force-free manner. LASTO®STRIP linear bearings enhance structures by preventing unwanted edge pressure, reducing the transmission of structure-borne noise and ensuring a long service life for the structure. Numerous residential and detached houses, multi-storey car parks, office buildings and shopping centres have been fitted with LASTO®STRIP linear bearings.

Installation description

The LASTO®STRIP linear bearings are installed according to the following procedure:

Step 1
Substrate preparation After installing the slab formwork, a horizontal substrate preparation of 10-15 mm mortar smooth coat must be created on the top of the wall. This smooth finish must be subtracted from the upper edge of the "formwork" minus the "plan" bearing thickness.

Step 2
Installation The LASTO®STRIP linear bearings are supplied ready for installation and can be laid on the dried smooth screed. The bearings are butt-jointed and the butt joints are masked with adhesive tape.

Step 3
Cable ducts Cut out penetrations and cable ducts in the bearing cleanly and strip the insulation with LASTO®ISOPIPE. Seal the transition to the bearing with adhesive tape. Rigid connections between ceiling and wall must be avoided at all costs.

Step 4
Reworking After stripping the formwork, any concrete residue on the longitudinal edges of the floor bearing must be removed to ensure that the bearing functions properly. Forming the separating cut (see picture) in the subsequent plastering is part of the professional construction of the ceiling bearing.
