Measures and products for noise protection of servers and server rooms

The following options are available: You can either insulate directly on the device or, in the case of large server rooms, in the room in which the devices are located. In both cases, you can choose from a wide range of foam variants.

If you want to insulate directly on the appliances, we recommend our flame-retardant melamine foams Basotect® G+ Absorber, which are available with a wide variety of surface coatings, or our PUR recycled foams and our Teroform® plastic heavy layer/PUR foam combination noise insulation mats.

The first base layer of plastic heavy foil is very efficient, as these heavy foils not only deaden the metal, but also insulate sound. The above-mentioned materials are glued directly into the computer or server. If there is not enough space, you can encapsulate the devices and then attach the respective foams or heavy foils.

The thicker the panels, the better the insulation. The plastic or bitumen heavy foil as a base layer is always recommended here, as it considerably increases the insulating effect. Our acoustic foams made of Basotect® melamine foam are often used for this application due to their high level of fire protection.

Composite foams provide the best insulation due to their high weight, but only have maximum flame retardancy. The choice of foam type depends on your priorities: Fire protection or insulation.

Be aware of increased heat development in the appliances when insulating directly with foam. This can be mitigated by building appropriate ventilation ducts to ensure a continuous exchange of air.

For server rooms in particular, many customers decide to insulate the entire room with foam or heavy foils. A common weak point is doors, which can be retrofitted with insulation.
