What to do about an unpleasant rubber odour?

What to do about an unpleasant rubber odour?

Rubber may have a strong odour.

In the manufacture of technical rubber products, additives or chemicals such as fillers, plasticisers, cross-linking agents, accelerators, anti-ageing agents, release agents, etc. are required in addition to the base rubber. The addition of these chemicals causes the typical rubber odour, which may be perceived as unpleasant.

Fortunately, the rubber odour dissipates by itself over time.

Here are some tips on how you can speed up the odour neutralisation of the rubber: Air the rubber product in the fresh air for a while. Rub the rubber product with diluted vinegar and leave it to soak for a while. After approx. 1 hour, rinse the rubber product with water. You can repeat the process if necessary.
