Vibra® Rail Heavy-Duty Sheet was developed to reliably reduce disruptive vibrations, rumbling noises and airborne sound transmission in lightweight structures. Manufactured from a thermoplastic, viscoelastic material with high mass density, it operates on a simple yet highly effective principle: By increasing the mass per unit area, the airborne sound insulation of thin-walled components such as sheet metal, panels or plastic sheets is significantly improved. At the same time, the material’s internal damping ensures that vibrations and resonances are attenuated – thus providing dual protection against airborne and structure-borne noise.

Vibra® Rail really comes into its own in the automotive and rail sectors. It is designed to meet the high requirements of the EN 45545 standard for rail vehicle construction and can therefore also be used in safety-critical areas. Furthermore, it remains functional and elastic at temperatures up to +100 °C, making it ideal for continuous operation under demanding conditions.

Another advantage lies in its practical application. The film is self-adhesive and can therefore be applied quickly, securely and cleanly. Even with complex geometries or hard-to-reach areas, the flexible structure allows for a precise fit. This enables components such as doors, walls, panelling or machine covers to be acoustically optimised efficiently and with minimal effort.

Its potential applications extend far beyond rail vehicle construction: in the automotive sector, Vibra® Rail is used to dampen body parts and interior trim. In mechanical engineering, it reduces vibrations and operating noise on housings, covers or sheet metal cladding. The film can also be used in building interiors to noticeably improve the sound insulation of lightweight walls, doors or technical installations.

Thanks to its combination of high mass density, viscoelastic damping and certified fire safety, Vibra® Rail is a versatile acoustic material that meets the increasing demands for noise and vibration protection. At the same time, it impresses with its durability and ease of use, which enables cost-effective processing on an industrial scale as well as rapid implementation in individual projects.

Delivery form

Vibra®Rail heavy-duty sheets are supplied as standard in untrimmed sheet form and can also be manufactured to exact specifications as custom-cut sheets on request. The high flexibility and good conformability of the heavy-duty sheets enable precise further processing, even with complex geometries, and ensure straightforward integration into acoustic, vibration and insulation applications.

To ensure perfect material quality, it is recommended to store the heavy-duty films tension-free, flat or in their original format

FAQ

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A: Vibra® Rail is an aluminium-laminated heavy-duty foil specifically developed for use in rail vehicles. It combines the sound-insulating properties of a traditional heavy-duty foil with a robust, easy-to-clean aluminium surface and meets the fire safety requirements of the railway standard EN 45545.
A: Vibra® Rail Heavy-Duty Sheeting is certified to EN 45545:2020 – the relevant fire safety standard for rail vehicles in Europe. This makes it a compliant solution for use in trains, trams, underground trains and other forms of public transport.
A: Yes. Thanks to its high-quality aluminium lamination and reliable insulation properties, Vibra® Rail is also used in other demanding sectors, such as aviation, public buildings and industrial facilities with strict fire safety requirements.
A: Vibra® Rail is available in the standard size 1400 x 2000 mm and a thickness of 2.5 mm. Other dimensions and cut-to-size sheets are available on request.
