NR/SBR rubber sheet with fabric reinforcement (70 Shore A)

The standard NR/SBR-based rubber sheet with cotton reinforcement is a cost-effective, fabric-reinforced all-purpose grade for large-area applications subject to mechanical stress. The embedded cotton fabric reinforcement – either single- or double-layered depending on the sheet thickness – gives the sheet significantly greater dimensional stability than rubber sheets without reinforcement: It prevents elongation or warping under tension, increases the tear strength of the composite and facilitates the installation of large areas as sheet material. With its good mechanical properties and its resistance to abrasion and impact, the sheet is particularly suitable as a general-purpose seal, as a covering for conveyor belts, as an impact and protective underlay, and for insulation.

Mechanically, the material offers a minimum tensile strength of 3 MPa (approximately 30 kg/cm²) with an elongation at break of at least 200 %. The operating temperature range is from –20 °C to +70 °C.

The intended application is crucial for selecting the correct material: this standard grade is designed for dry, mechanical applications and is not suitable for prolonged contact with oils, fuels, acids or solvents; its resistance to weathering and ageing is also limited. For high-abrasion applications, we recommend our natural rubber grade Vibra®Para; for weather- and chemical-resistant applications, our EPDM grade.

The sheet is available in thicknesses from 2 to 10 mm, in widths of 1.2 and 1.4 m, and as rolls with standard lengths of 10 m (5 m for certain thicknesses). Thinner sheets are reinforced with a single cotton insert, whilst thicker ones have two inserts. With a density of 1.5 g/cm³ and a black finish, the fabric-reinforced NR/SBR sheet can be cut to size and fabricated – as sheets and rolls, as well as in bespoke cuts.
