NR/SBR rubber sheet – fabric insert

Our NR/SBR rubber sheets, featuring one or two integrated fabric reinforcements and a hardness of approx. 70 Shore A, are the ideal choice for technical applications where exceptional tear resistance, abrasion resistance and dimensional stability are essential. The blend of natural rubber (NR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) creates a material that marries the elasticity and flexibility of NR with the durability and abrasion resistance of SBR. This performance is enhanced by the integrated fabric reinforcement, which acts as a stabiliser and prevents the material from stretching or warping under load.

This quality really comes into its own in environments where rubber is constantly exposed to mechanical forces, shear movements or friction. Whilst a plain rubber sheet might give way or deform under sustained stress, the textile insert ensures that the sheet retains its shape and performs its function reliably over a long period. This makes them particularly suitable for applications in mechanical and plant engineering, vehicle construction, or conveyor technology, where materials often have to withstand harsh conditions.

In addition to its high stability, this grade also impresses with its excellent mechanical properties. The sheets exhibit outstanding tensile strength, are elastic enough to adapt easily to surfaces when required, yet remain structurally stable, ensuring they do not yield even under compressive or impact loads. Their high abrasion resistance ensures they remain durable even during continuous contact with moving or sharp parts. Furthermore, they exhibit low permanent deformation, meaning that they return to their original shape even after repeated or prolonged stress.

The temperature resistance of these NR/SBR sheets ranges from approximately –30 °C to +70 °C, allowing them to be used in both colder environments and where moderate heat is generated. In the short term, they can even withstand higher temperatures without losing their properties. This opens up numerous applications – from technical seals and flange gaskets to protective pads and covers subjected to heavy mechanical stress.

Another advantage is their ease of processing. Despite the fabric reinforcement, the sheets can be precisely cut, punched or further processed, making custom shapes and cut-to-size pieces easily achievable. This makes them a flexible yet extremely robust solution that effortlessly strikes a balance between adaptability and resilience.
