Basotect® G+ is an open-cell melamine foam based on thermosetting melamine resin, renowned for its excellent sound absorption and outstanding fire performance. When combined with a non-woven backing, the foam offers additional benefits in terms of surface stability, protection against dust particles and improved processability.
The open-cell structure ensures high acoustic performance, particularly in the mid and high frequency ranges. As a result, Basotect® significantly reduces unwanted reverberation times and improves the acoustics in rooms, vehicle cabins or technical installations. At the same time, the material meets the highest safety requirements: it is flame-retardant in accordance with DIN 4102-1 (B1) and classified under EN 13501-1 (C-s1, d0). In the event of a fire, only small amounts of smoke and hardly any toxic gases are produced, meaning it can also be used in safety-critical areas.
The non-woven lamination gives the foam additional functionality. It protects the surface from mechanical stress, facilitates bonding and ensures a clean and visually appealing finish. Furthermore, the non-woven fabric prevents dirt particles from penetrating the open-cell structure and makes handling easier during installation and cutting.
With a density of approximately 9 kg/m³, Basotect® G+ remains extremely lightweight, easy to transport and versatile in application. The material is temperature-resistant up to +90 °C, dimensionally stable and free from plasticisers, fibres and halogenated hydrocarbons, making it harmless to health and environmentally friendly.
Thanks to the combination of high sound absorption, excellent fire performance and additional surface protection provided by the non-woven lamination, Basotect® G+ is particularly suitable for use in building acoustics, vehicle construction, air conditioning and ventilation technology, as well as in mechanical and plant engineering.

Delivery form
The material is supplied as standard in the form of unedged sheets and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut-to-size piece according to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.
The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.
