NR/SBR rubber sheet – FDA approval

The NR/SBR rubber sheets with a hardness of approx. 60 Shore A in white are the ideal choice when it comes to combining technical performance with the highest hygiene standards. They consist of a balanced blend of natural rubber (NR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). Whilst the natural rubber provides elasticity, high resilience and flexibility, the SBR component contributes additional abrasion resistance, ageing resistance and durability. This combination of materials makes the sheets not only particularly durable but also versatile – from industrial applications to sensitive areas involving food contact.

A key feature of these rubber sheets is their FDA compliance in accordance with CFR 177.2600. This means they are expressly approved for use in direct contact with food. This opens up a wide range of applications in the food and beverage industry, in packaging and filling plants, and in pharmaceutical production, where the highest hygiene and safety standards are required. The bright white colour also aids visual inspection and facilitates compliance with strict cleanliness guidelines, as even the smallest contaminants are immediately visible.

The technical properties are equally impressive: with a hardness of 60 Shore A, the sheets offer a good balance between flexibility and stability. They are soft enough to adapt perfectly to uneven surfaces, yet firm enough to be used as durable seals, pads or protective sheets. High tensile strength and elongation at break ensure that the material retains its shape reliably even under heavy mechanical stress, while the abrasion resistance protects against premature wear—even in areas where friction and contact are unavoidable.

Performance remains consistent across varying climatic conditions: the sheets are rated for temperatures ranging from approximately –30 °C to +70 °C and can even withstand temperatures up to +90 °C for short periods. This means they can be deployed safely not only in production halls but also in cold or hot environments.

Processing is straightforward. The sheets can be easily cut to size, punched or machined, allowing them to be customised. This makes them suitable for both standardised applications and bespoke solutions, such as special seals, protective pads, separating wedges or moulded parts.
