Armaflex® HT is a specially developed insulation material made from closed-cell EPDM rubber, designed for applications where high temperatures, UV exposure and moisture protection are all important factors. The material is characterised by high temperature resistance up to +150 °C in continuous operation and remains permanently flexible even in cold conditions down to –50 °C. This makes Armaflex® HT suitable for a wide range of technical applications – from solar and heating systems to industrial piping systems and complex installations in mechanical and plant engineering.

The closed-cell structure acts as an integrated vapour barrier. Unlike open-cell insulation materials, moisture absorption is permanently prevented, which significantly reduces the risk of corrosion under insulation (CUI). This property makes Armaflex® HT particularly reliable for outdoor applications or damp environments where condensation could pose a serious problem. At the same time, the material impresses with a very low thermal conductivity of ≤ 0.042 W/mK, effectively minimising energy losses.

Another key benefit is its high UV and weather resistance. While many insulation materials are suitable only for sheltered areas, Armaflex® HT remains operational even under direct sunlight and retains its mechanical and thermal properties over the long term. Combined with resistance to ozone, oil and chemicals, this makes it a durable, robust solution for external insulation and industrial applications subject to increased stresses.

Armaflex® HT also meets key fire safety standards: it is classified as ‘D-s3, d0’ (sheets) or ‘D(L)-s3, d0’ (rolls) according to EN 13501-1. This means that the material is flame-retardant, does not produce burning droplets in the event of a fire and emits only minimal smoke. It also meets the international UL 94 V-0 classification and the British fire safety class 1 according to BS 476 Part 7 – clear evidence of its safety in use.

Installing Armaflex® HT is straightforward. The rolls and sheets are easy to cut to size and can be flexibly wrapped around pipes, fittings or tanks. As the product is supplied without self-adhesive backing, it can be secured using adhesive systems or cladding depending on requirements, allowing for application-specific customisation.

Delivery form

The material is supplied as standard in trimmed sheet form and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.

The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A: Armaflex® HT has been specially developed for high-temperature applications and can withstand operating temperatures of up to approx. +150 °C on a continuous basis – significantly higher than standard Armaflex®. This makes it suitable for insulating steam pipes, high-temperature valves, flue pipes and other hot piping systems.
A: Armaflex® HT is primarily a thermal insulation material, but thanks to its closed-cell elastomer structure, it also has sound-damping properties against structure-borne noise and flow noise in pipework. This is a significant added benefit for pipework systems in plant rooms and ventilation systems.
A: Armaflex® HT is cut to size using a sharp knife or scissors and bonded using special Armaflex adhesive. The seams must be carefully bonded to maintain the insulating effect. The material is flexible and can be easily fitted around pipe bends and fittings.
A: Standard Armaflex® is designed for operating temperatures up to approx. +105 °C. Armaflex® HT (High Temperature) can withstand temperatures up to approx. +150 °C on a continuous basis. For applications below +105 °C, standard Armaflex® is sufficient and more cost-effective. At operating temperatures above +105 °C, Armaflex® HT is essential.
