The Vibra® Drain L is a specially developed polyester fibre mat supplied in roll form that combines several functions in a single product: sound insulation, thermal insulation, moisture control and fire safety. Manufactured from high-quality PES fibre fleece and combined with a stable spacer fabric, the result is a material that is both acoustically effective and technically durable and resilient. The roll format enables highly flexible installation, as the mat can be easily cut to size, shaped, and adapted to a wide variety of geometries.

A standout feature of the Vibra® Drain L is its aluminium-laminated surface. This ensures that the mat meets the stringent requirements of the European fire safety standard EN 45545-2 (R1, HL3). It is therefore officially approved for use in rail vehicle construction – an environment where the highest safety standards apply. It is flame-retardant, produces only minimal smoke and does not produce burning droplets, making it a reliable choice for safety-critical projects.

In addition to its high safety standards, the material impresses with its drainage function. The integrated spacer fabric prevents condensation from remaining trapped within the material. Instead, moisture is specifically drained away, thereby ensuring both the insulation performance and the service life of adjacent components. This feature is a decisive advantage, particularly in environments subject to moisture – such as in air conditioning ducts, technical cavities or on rail vehicles – as it reliably prevents corrosion and material damage.

The Vibra® Drain L also demonstrates its strengths acoustically: the open-pored structure of the polyester fibre fleece effectively absorbs sound waves, significantly reducing reverberation and disruptive noise levels. The mat delivers broadband performance, with particular efficiency in the mid-frequency range, which is crucial for speech intelligibility and room comfort. Combined with its thermal properties—a thermal conductivity of around 0.037 W/mK—it offers a balanced performance profile for projects where both acoustics and energy efficiency must be taken into account.

The Vibra® Drain L has a wide range of applications: it is used for sound insulation in rail vehicles, in technical installations and machine casings, and is equally suitable for industrial halls, air-conditioning systems or building services where a combination of sound absorption, thermal insulation and moisture protection is required.

Delivery form

The material is supplied as standard in the form of unedged sheets and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut-to-size piece according to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.

The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A: Vibra® Drain L is a polyester fibre mat with an integrated drainage fleece. The two-layer construction actively drains moisture, whilst the fibre layer absorbs sound. This makes it unique among soundproofing mats and ideal for applications where both drainage and acoustic performance are required.
A: The material is frequently used in tunnel construction, underpasses, road noise barriers and other construction projects where water needs to be drained whilst simultaneously reducing noise. Vibra® Drain L is also widely used in railway engineering and civil engineering.
A: Yes. Vibra® Drain L is available in large rolls, which allows for cost-effective installation over large areas. Cut-to-size sheets are available on request.
A: Certain Vibra® Drain variants have been tested for use in rail vehicle construction in accordance with EN 45545. The relevant test reports and certificates are available upon request. For rail projects with specific standardisation requirements, we recommend verifying the certificates with us in advance.
