Silphon® Fiber LH polyester fibre mat – aluminium

Silphon® Fiber LH is a technically advanced polyester fibre mat that stands out from conventional insulation materials thanks to its combination of acoustic performance, thermal insulation, surface protection and safety in accordance with standards. It is manufactured from high-quality PET and co-polyester staple fibres, which are bonded into a homogeneous mat using a thermal consolidation process. Completely free of adhesives or chemical binders, the structure remains dimensionally stable, emission-free and virtually dust-free, even after many years of use in demanding environments.

A key advantage of this variant is its special oil- and water-repellent finish, which makes the fibre mat particularly resistant to moisture, splash water and oily contaminants. This makes it ideal for applications where standard insulation materials would quickly reach their limits – for example, in technical installations, the automotive industry or industrial sectors with increased exposure to dirt and liquids.

Silphon® Fiber LH impresses both acoustically and thermally: with a thermal conductivity of approx. 0.037 W/mK and a density of around 20 kg/m³, it offers solid thermal insulation and contributes to improved energy efficiency. At the same time, its open-cell fibre structure effectively reduces airborne sound and ensures a significant improvement in room acoustics, particularly in the mid-frequency range. This allows reverberation times to be shortened and disruptive noise levels to be reduced – whether in technical enclosures, in machine rooms or in room acoustics applications.

Another key advantage lies in the available laminations. Particularly noteworthy is the aluminium-laminated variant, which was developed specifically for use in the rail vehicle sector. In this version, Silphon® Fiber LH meets the stringent requirements of the European fire safety standard EN 45545:2020. It is therefore officially approved for use in rail vehicles and offers maximum safety in the event of a fire: flame-retardant, with controlled smoke emission and no burning droplets. This makes it the ideal choice for applications in locomotives, carriages or interior panelling, where functionality, fire safety and durability must work together without compromise.

Installation of Silphon® Fiber LH is flexible: as it is available in various thicknesses and dimensions, it can be cut to size precisely and integrated into a wide variety of structures. Whether as a ceiling element, wall cladding, insert in machine enclosures or as a component of insulation structures – the mat remains robust, stable and permanently effective. Furthermore, it is 100% recyclable, making it a sustainable choice not only from a technical but also from an environmental perspective.
