Trocellen Class ALU is a closed-cell, chemically cross-linked polyethylene foam laminated on both sides with high-quality aluminium foil. This combination brings together the classic advantages of PE foam – low thermal conductivity, an integrated vapour barrier and high flexibility – with the additional properties of the aluminium coating, which reflects radiant heat, provides mechanical protection for the material and significantly increases its durability under demanding conditions.

The closed-cell structure acts as an integrated vapour barrier, preventing both condensation and moisture from penetrating the insulation material. This ensures that the insulation properties are maintained over the long term, whilst minimising the risk of condensation and corrosion damage. With a diffusion resistance of μ ≥ 15,000, Trocellen Class ALU meets the highest standards for moisture protection.

The insulation material also impresses in terms of acoustics: the combination of PE foam and aluminium lamination ensures a noticeable reduction in airborne and structure-borne noise. Particularly in the case of ventilation ducts, pipework or large-scale installations, disruptive noises are reduced and room acoustics are improved.

In terms of fire protection, Trocellen Class ALU meets the Euroclass standards B-s2,d0 (for 3–14 mm) and C-s2,d0 (for 15–24 mm). This means: flame-retardant, no burning droplets, and minimal smoke development. In addition, the material has been awarded the F1 classification for low smoke toxicity in accordance with NF F 16-101. This makes it suitable for safety-critical applications such as public buildings or public transport.

The aluminium foil on both sides serves several functions: it reflects radiant heat, thereby improving the overall insulation effect; it protects the foam from mechanical stress; and it acts as an additional barrier against dust and moisture. This lamination offers a clear advantage, particularly in outdoor applications or heavily used technical areas.

The range of applications is diverse: Trocellen Class ALU is primarily used in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) sector, where it both reduces energy loss and provides sound insulation. Typical applications include pipework, air ducts, roof and façade structures, industrial plants and transport engineering, where additional fire safety standards must be met.

Thanks to its ease of processing, the insulation material can be flexibly cut to size and adapted, whether in sheet form or on rolls. Even with complex geometries, it remains dimensionally stable, elastic and consistently effective.

Delivery form

The material is supplied as standard in trimmed sheet form and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.

The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.
