HIIB hollow rubber spring – multi-constrained high-performance elements for maximum spring travel
The multi-constricted rubber hollow springs of type HIIB are among the most effective elastic elements for shock, vibration and oscillation isolation. Thanks to their characteristic, multi-constricted design, they achieve the greatest possible spring travel within this product family relative to their initial height. This design ensures a particularly soft response at the start of loading and allows for large deformation paths before a distinctly progressive spring characteristic curve develops. As a result, the HIIB spring type initially reacts very sensitively and flexibly, but stabilises with high progression as the load increases, making it ideal for dynamic applications.

The multi-constricted rubber hollow springs of type HIIB are among the most effective elastic elements for shock, vibration and oscillation isolation. Thanks to their characteristic, multi-constricted design, they achieve the greatest possible spring travel within this product family relative to their initial height. This design ensures a particularly soft response at the start of loading and allows for large deformation strokes before a distinctly progressive spring characteristic curve develops. As a result, the HIIB spring type initially reacts very sensitively and flexibly, but stabilises with high progression as the load increases, making it ideal for dynamic applications.
In comparison, the single-constricted HIIA spring type exhibits lower initial stiffness and greater total spring travel than standard barrel-shaped hollow springs. Both constricted variants – HIIA and HIIB – were developed for applications requiring high energy absorption, long spring travel, and a controlled force rise. However, thanks to its multiple constrictions, the HIIB type offers a significantly increased ability to absorb extreme deformations without compromising structural integrity.
Both HIIA and HIIB are particularly suitable as end stops, impact buffers, auxiliary springs or combination springs. Thanks to their design characteristics, they are ideally suited for use in mechanical engineering, conveyor technology, vehicle construction or in systems with high dynamic load cycles. For self-supporting cushioning, however, barrel-shaped hollow springs are the better choice, as they offer higher initial stiffness and more uniform load distribution.
The rubber hollow springs in this series are maintenance-free, durable and feature pronounced self-damping – an important characteristic for quickly dissipating shocks and vibrations and reliably protecting machines, equipment and assemblies. The robust elastomer structure enables a wide working range and also offers excellent emergency running properties.
