The carbon fibre fleece PSE is a specialised finishing solution for foam surfaces, with a specific focus on increased abrasion resistance, reduced water absorption and improved chemical and physical properties. It is a black needle-punched nonwoven fabric composed of carbon and polyester (PES) fibers, which is laminated or bonded as a top layer onto conventional foams. This creates a high-quality material that is significantly more robust against mechanical contact, splash moisture and external influences, making it ideal for industrial applications, vehicle construction, machine casings or technical installations where foam solutions are frequently subjected to high stresses.

In practice, this finish means that impacting particles, jet or spray liquids, and abrasive stress no longer penetrate the foam unchecked. Instead, the carbon-PES top layer acts as a durable shell, offering effective protection against liquid absorption (oleophobic/hydrophobic) and safeguarding the underlying insulation or absorption layer from damage or loss of performance. This results in a more durable and high-performance construction that offers significant advantages, particularly in demanding acoustic, insulation or mechanical engineering applications.

The carbon fibre fleece is supplied in a standard roll format of 600 m in length and 1,350 mm in width, but can also be cut to size to fit your specific application and component shape. This flexibility facilitates integration into existing production processes and provides planning certainty in reference projects or series production.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A: Carbon fibre fleece PSE is used as a surface laminate for soundproofing materials to create a robust, mechanically resilient and aesthetically pleasing surface. It is frequently used in vehicle interiors, in railway engineering and in industrial facilities where foam or fibre mats need to be protected against abrasion, dust and mechanical stress.
A: The fleece itself is primarily a protective laminate. It is thin and sufficiently breathable that it hardly impairs the sound absorption of the underlying material. If installed very tightly, it may slightly reduce absorption at high frequencies.
A: Carbon fibre fleece PSE is available in rolls 1350 mm wide and 600,000 mm long. Cut-to-size sheets are available on request.
A: Yes. The fleece is attached to the substrate using foam spray adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape. For a durable, professional bond, we recommend the double-sided mesh tape from our range.
