Basotect® G+ melamine foam – acoustic blocks
Silphon® acoustic blocks made from Basotect® G+ light grey – effective absorption performance across a wide frequency range
The Silphon® acoustic blocks, based on the melamine foam Basotect® G+ (light grey), represent a modern and effective solution for the acoustic optimisation of commercial and industrial areas. With an extremely low density of approximately 9 kg/m³, this material offers an excellent surface for sound absorption across a broad frequency spectrum. Thanks to the combination of an open-cell microstructure, deep sound energy absorption and good fire and thermal performance, the product meets several technical requirements in a single step.

The blocks are supplied in standard dimensions of 200 × 350 × 350 mm, but can be manufactured ‘Swiss made’ to customer-specific dimensions. This geometry enables easy installation as ceiling or wall absorbers: flexible positioning can be achieved using suspension systems or nylon thread/hook solutions, ideal for targeted reverberation reduction in offices, production halls, measurement rooms or music rooms.
Thanks to its certified fire rating in accordance with DIN 4102 B1 and BKZ 5.2, as well as compliance with the fire safety standard EN 45545, the acoustic cube solution can also be used in demanding environments where both room acoustics and safety play a significant role. Furthermore, Basotect® G+ impresses with its low thermal conductivity, making the system advantageous not only acoustically but also from a thermal perspective.
In practice, the acoustic blocks lead to a noticeable improvement in the sound quality: reflection and reverberation times are reduced, early reflections from ceiling and wall surfaces are effectively suppressed, and the room structure is acoustically optimised – resulting in clearer speech intelligibility, reduced noise levels and a more pleasant working environment in offices or technical rooms. Installation during retrofitting or conversion projects is efficient, as the lightweight nature of the material allows for minimally invasive installation.
