Basotect® B melamine foam – acoustic cylinders
Silphon® acoustic cylinders – manufactured from high-quality Basotect® B in white, for excellent room acoustics and maximum sound absorption
The Silphon® acoustic cylinder combines uncompromising sound absorption quality with modern design and ease of installation, offering a high-quality solution for optimising room acoustics in sophisticated interiors. The material used is the open-cell melamine resin foam Basotect® B (white), which has a density of approximately 9 kg/m³. This combination results in effective absorption across a wide frequency spectrum whilst maintaining minimal weight, which is particularly advantageous for ceiling or suspended applications.

The Silphon® acoustic cylinder combines uncompromising sound absorption quality with modern design and ease of installation, a high-quality solution for optimising room acoustics in sophisticated interiors. The material is the open-cell melamine resin foam Basotect® B (white), which has a density of approximately 9 kg/m³. This combination results in effective absorption across a broad frequency spectrum whilst maintaining minimal weight, which is particularly advantageous for ceiling or suspended applications.
Standard dimensions such as 1000 mm in length and 150 mm in diameter are available, and custom-made 'Swiss-made' solutions can also be produced. The cylindrical shape enables flexible integration into a wide variety of room geometries: whether suspended individually as a design feature or mounted in rows for targeted reverberation reduction along ceilings or wall surfaces. Thanks to its low weight, installation using hooks, cable suspension or clip fastenings is particularly efficient.
In terms of materials, the acoustic cylinder impresses with its fire safety classification in accordance with DIN 4102 B1 (i.e. flame-retardant) – a significant advantage, particularly for public spaces, commercial buildings or technical installation environments. The open-cell structure of the foam absorbs incident sound waves: instead of reflecting them, the energy is distributed and converted within the cylinder, thus preventing it from being reflected back into the room – this leads to a measurable improvement in room acoustics, a noticeable reduction in reverberation time and clearer speech and communication intelligibility.
In practice, the product impresses with its versatility: whether for offices and conference rooms, studios, reception areas, training rooms or even production and technical rooms – the acoustic cylinder offers a high-quality design and functional solution. The white colour scheme allows for elegant, harmonious integration into modern interior concepts without compromising acoustic performance or technical quality.
