Manufactured from open-cell melamine resin foam with a typical density of approx. 9 kg/m³, the material is characterised by excellent absorption performance across a broad frequency spectrum, combined with very low weight and high fire safety performance.

The Silphon® Octagon acoustic panel made from Basotect G+ in light grey offers a high-performance solution for optimising room acoustics in demanding interior spaces, ranging from offices and reception areas to halls and studios, as well as catering and event venues. Manufactured from open-cell melamine resin foam with a typical density of approx. 9 kg/m³, the material is characterised by excellent absorption performance across a wide frequency range, combined with very low weight and high fire safety standards.
The octagonal design (“Octagon”) not only creates an attractive visual effect but also enhances the acoustic performance: edges and surfaces provide additional sound interruption and scattering, thereby reducing reflections and effectively lowering reverberation times. In the standard version, the panel dimensions are 500 mm × 500 mm × 50 mm; custom sizes and bespoke cuts are available “Swiss made” on request, enabling coverage of special rooms or specific geometries.
In terms of material properties, Basotect G+ is flame-retardant in accordance with DIN 4102 B1 and classified as BKZ 5.2, making the acoustic panel suitable for public buildings or commercial facilities with high safety requirements. The open-pored microstructure promotes the penetration depth and energy conversion of sound waves: instead of being reflected back with high intensity, the waves penetrate the material, where they are scattered and converted into heat – the result is a noticeably quieter indoor environment with improved speech intelligibility and a sense of well-being.
Installation is efficient: the low profile and light weight allow for easy fixing to wall or ceiling surfaces – for example, by gluing, mechanical fixing or as a free-hanging element. Retrofitting existing rooms can also be carried out with minimal effort. Areas with high ceilings or large room volumes, where sound-reflective surfaces such as concrete, glass or metal dominate, are particularly suitable.
