Plastazote® LD45 is a high-density, closed-cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam that impresses with its precise cell structure, outstanding energy absorption and robust flexibility. Produced using an environmentally friendly nitrogen infusion process without chemical blowing agents, it stands out for its low odour, chemical purity and high material integrity.

With a density of approx. 45 kg/m³, LD45 offers significantly greater stability and strength than lighter variants. It reliably absorbs impacts and, thanks to its high resilience, always returns to its original shape. The compressive strength ranges from approximately 77 kPa at 10% compression to around 94 kPa at 25% and up to 170 kPa at 50% compression. The shape remains virtually unchanged even after prolonged loading (permanent set: less than 3% after 24 hours), making it particularly durable.

Mechanically, LD45 impresses with a high tensile strength of approx. 560 kPa, an elongation of up to 175% and a tear strength of around 1150 N/m – ideal conditions for applications requiring both durability and precision. Its Shore hardness is around 60 OO, making it noticeably firmer than lighter foam types without becoming brittle.

Thermally and functionally, LD45 offers an impressive range of properties: it retains its shape over a wide temperature range from –70 °C to +105 °C. With a thermal conductivity of around 0.042 W/m·K, it also acts as an insulator.

From a practical perspective, Plastazote® LD45 impresses with its ease and precision of processing: cutting, milling, lasering or thermoforming are all possible without any problems. Thanks to its high density, intricate and detailed structures can be created – ideal for high-quality tool, case, presentation or museum inserts. LD45 also impresses in medical, acid-critical or clean-room environments thanks to its purity, chemical resistance and durability.

Plastazote® LD45 thus combines technical perfection, dimensional stability, flexible processing and maximum protective performance in a single material—a true all-rounder for professional use in demanding protective, presentation or packaging solutions.
