Basotect® G is an open-cell melamine foam based on thermosetting melamine resin, renowned for its excellent sound absorption and outstanding fire performance. In the version with a PU skin, the foam is given an additional polyurethane coating that seals its surface and makes it more mechanically resistant. This significantly expands its range of applications.

The open-cell structure continues to ensure high sound absorption, particularly in the mid and high frequency ranges. Basotect® G+ with PU skin thus contributes effectively to the reduction of reverberation and noise emissions and improves acoustic conditions in rooms, vehicles or technical installations. At the same time, the material meets strict fire safety requirements: in the event of a fire, it produces only a small amount of smoke with low toxicity, ensuring safety in public buildings, transport and industrial applications.

The PU skin also offers important additional benefits. It acts as a protective layer against dust, moisture and dirt and makes the surface easier to clean. It also increases the mechanical stability of the foam and protects it from abrasion, meaning it can be used even in areas subject to heavy wear. This makes the PU-coated variant particularly suitable for applications in air conditioning and ventilation technology, in machine and plant casings, and in areas where a clean and durable surface is required.

Despite the additional coating, Basotect® G+ with PU skin remains very lightweight, easy to process and versatile. It is temperature-resistant up to +150 °C, dimensionally stable and free from plasticisers, fibres and halogenated hydrocarbons.

With its combination of acoustic performance, fire safety and the added robustness provided by the PU skin, Basotect® G+ offers a reliable solution for a wide range of applications in construction, industry and engineering.

Basotect® is a registered trademark of BASF SE.

Delivery form

The material is supplied as standard in the form of unedged sheets and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut-to-size piece according to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.

The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.
