The NBR rubber sheet made from nitrile rubber is the classic material for technical applications involving oil. Among elastomers, nitrile rubber (NBR) is the specialist in oil and fuel resistance and is therefore the first choice wherever mineral oils, greases, lubricants or fuels are involved – for example, as a seal, support or protective lining in workshops, in mechanical and plant engineering, in vehicle manufacturing or in hydraulics.

Oil resistance is its defining characteristic: with low volume swelling of no more than 10 %, the sheet demonstrates good resistance to oils and is also highly resistant to solvents as well as diluted acids and alkalis. It offers moderate resistance to concentrated acids and alkalis. As pure NBR has only limited resistance to ozone and weathering, the sheet is particularly suitable for indoor technical and machinery applications; for outdoor applications subject to continuous weathering, we recommend our NBR/PVC grade with improved weather resistance. The operating temperature range is from –30 °C to +110 °C.

Mechanically, the sheet performs well with a hardness of 65 ± 5 Shore A, a minimum tensile strength of 100 kg/cm² (approximately 9.8 MPa), an elongation at break of at least 350 %, a low compression set of no more than 35 % and a high tear strength of 35 kg/cm. These values ensure robust load-bearing capacity and reliable recovery during continuous use. Following heat ageing at 70 °C, the properties remain stable within tight tolerances.

With a density of 1,35 g/cm³ and a black finish, the NBR rubber sheet can be cut to size, die-cut and fabricated – available by the metre and as bespoke cut-to-size sheets for oil- and fuel-resistant sealing and support applications.
