EPDM foam rubber is a soft, lightweight sealing material with a closed-cell structure. Unlike compact solid rubber, the material contains fine, separate air cells. This closed-cell structure makes the foam rubber airtight and watertight: it does not absorb water and provides a reliable seal against moisture, draughts, dust and noise, even at low contact pressure, as the soft material adapts perfectly to mating surfaces and compensates for tolerances.

EPDM foam rubber is a soft, lightweight sealing material with a closed-cell structure. Unlike compact solid rubber, the material contains fine, separate air cells. This closed-cell structure makes the foam rubber airtight and watertight: it does not absorb water and provides a reliable seal against moisture, draughts, dust and noise, even at low contact pressure, as the soft material adapts perfectly to mating surfaces and compensates for tolerances.
With a soft hardness of 25 ± 5 Shore A and a low specific gravity of just 0.6 g/cm³, foam rubber is lightweight and highly flexible. Despite its soft texture, it offers good tensile strength of 1 MPa, an elongation at break of 300 % and good resilience, meaning it reliably returns to its original shape after compression. The operating temperature range extends from –35 °C to +120 °C.
As is typical for EPDM, the material offers excellent resistance to UV radiation, ozone and weathering, making it particularly suitable for permanent outdoor sealing applications without becoming brittle. Typical applications include construction seals, airtight and watertight closures, window and door seals, control cabinet and housing seals, as well as the protection and cushioning of sensitive products in packaging.
EPDM foam rubber is easy to cut to size, die-cut and assemble, and is available as sheets, rolls or strips, as well as in custom-cut sizes – the lightweight and durable solution for a wide range of sealing and protective applications.
