Polyethylene PE-HD (High-Density Polyethylene) is a high-density thermoplastic and ranks among the most popular engineering plastics for industrial applications. The material impresses with its high toughness and rigidity, as well as excellent chemical resistance. Furthermore, PE-HD has very good sliding properties, low moisture absorption and is an excellent electrical insulator. The physiologically safe Vibra® PE-HD sheet material is therefore also suitable for applications where contact between the material and sensitive areas cannot be ruled out.
With a density of just 0.95 g/cm³ and dimensional stability up to +80 °C, PE-HD is ideal for durable, lightweight, and at the same time, cost-effective designs. Thanks to its excellent mechanical properties, the material can be used continuously even under repeated stress without compromising its functionality. Another advantage is its excellent processability: sawing, milling, punching, welding, bending – all these processing options can be carried out without difficulty and enable the efficient manufacture of components, protective elements or covers.
The range of applications is extremely diverse. PE-HD is used in numerous industrial sectors, for example in mechanical and plant engineering, conveyor technology, vehicle and equipment manufacturing, the food industry, the chemical industry, agriculture, packaging technology, and in assembly and protective applications. Wherever a robust, moisture-resistant and yet easy-to-process material is required, Vibra® PE-HD proves to be the ideal choice.
The sheet material is available as standard in thicknesses from 1 to 5 mm. Sheet thicknesses of up to 40 mm are available on request, enabling even complex designs to be realised.
