Plastazote® LD30 SD is an electrostatic dissipative (ESD) polyethylene foam that has been specially developed to reliably protect sensitive electronic components from electrostatic discharge. Manufactured using an environmentally friendly nitrogen infusion process, this foam features a closed-cell structure, uniform density and permanent antistatic properties – all without the use of chemical blowing agents or surface coatings.

With a density of approx. 30 kg/m³, LD30 SD combines low mass with high functionality. The foam exhibits balanced compression properties: approximately 79 kPa at 25% deformation and 148 kPa at 50%. The Shore hardness is approximately 61 (OO scale), making it soft and elastic whilst retaining its shape. Tensile strength and elongation are approximately 387 kPa and 64% respectively, and even after prolonged pressure it retains its shape – the compression set is only around 5%.

What particularly sets LD30 SD apart is its static-dissipative function: thanks to an optimised material composition, the surface resistance remains permanently within the antistatic range (between 10⁴ and 10¹¹ Ω). This ensures permanent ESD safety – even under intensive use or changing environmental conditions.

Thermally, LD30 SD proves robust and reliable: its operating range extends from –70 °C to +95 °C, and even beyond that for short periods. With a thermal conductivity of approx. 0.039 W/m·K, it also offers excellent insulation properties. Water absorption remains minimal (<1%), making it additionally resistant to moisture.

In terms of processing, LD30 SD is extremely versatile. It can be easily cut, milled, thermoformed or die-cut – ideal for precision tool inserts, portable electronic inserts, ESD case liners or reusable packaging formats. The robust yet elastic surface gives the foam a high-quality appearance.

Plastazote® LD30 SD thus combines versatile technical performance with reliable antistatic protection and flexible processing. This makes it the perfect solution for anyone who values safe, durable and precise protective packaging—particularly when handling sensitive electronics.
