Plastazote® LD33 packaging foam is a high-quality, closed-cell polyethylene foam that impresses with its uniform cell structure, high load-bearing capacity and excellent physical properties. Produced using an environmentally friendly nitrogen expansion process, it is virtually odourless, hygienic and therefore ideally suited for applications where material purity is as important as protection.
With a density of around 33 kg/m³, LD33 combines very low weight with high strength. The foam is elastic, durable and reliably absorbs shocks. The tensile strength is approximately 440 kPa, the elongation at break is over 150%, and the tear strength of around 785 N/m further underscores the material’s robustness. In compression testing, LD33 demonstrates balanced values – approximately 69 kPa at 25% compression – whilst remaining dimensionally stable over time. Its low compression set and temperature resistance from –70 °C to +100 °C make it a reliable material even under changing conditions.
Another advantage is its versatility in processing. LD33 can be easily cut, punched, milled or thermoformed and is available in various colours. Black and white versions are particularly popular, whilst coloured variants are frequently used for design solutions, tool inserts or luggage liners. Thanks to its low water absorption and good chemical resistance, the foam is also suitable for use in damp or high-stress environments.
Typical applications range from precision tool and equipment inserts, through packaging and transport protection, to medical or electronic inserts where a clean, lightweight yet resilient foam is required. With its combination of lightness, stability and high adaptability, Plastazote® LD33 is a versatile all-rounder.
Delivery form
Plastazote® LD 33 PE foams are supplied as standard in the form of untrimmed sheets in various colours. The material is available in several thicknesses and can also be produced on request as custom-cut sheets or in the form of ready-made inserts – for example, for tools, presentation packaging or protective inserts.
