The CSM rubber sheet made from chlorosulphonated polyethylene is one of the highest-performance elastomer grades for technical applications subject to extreme stress. It is characterised by its outstanding resistance to weathering, ozone and UV radiation: Even when continuously exposed to the elements, the material remains elastic and dimensionally stable over a long period. This makes the sheet particularly suitable for outdoor applications, chemically aggressive environments and systems subject to high demands on durability.

Its chemical resistance profile is broad and pronounced: excellent resistance to ozone and diluted acids and alkalis, and good resistance to concentrated acids and alkalis. The material exhibits moderate resistance to oils and only limited resistance to solvents. Combined with an operating temperature range of –30 °C to +130 °C, the sheet is therefore equally suitable for aggressive media and elevated temperatures – a range of applications that extends far beyond that of standard rubber grades.

Mechanically, the material impresses with a minimum tensile strength of 100 kg/cm² (approximately 9.8 MPa), an elongation at break of at least 350 % and a tear strength of 23 kg/cm. Added to this is proven abrasion resistance (maximum abrasion 300 mm³), which makes the material ideal for surfaces subject to mechanical stress and friction. Following heat ageing at 70 °C, hardness, tensile strength and elongation at break remain remarkably stable, with tolerances of around ±10 %.

The sheet features a smooth finish on both sides, delivering a clean contact surface and uniform appearance. With a hardness of 65 ± 5 Shore A, a density of 1.40 g/cm³ and a black finish, it can be cut to size, punched and fabricated – either by the metre or as bespoke cut-to-size pieces for seals, linings and durable protective coatings in harsh conditions.
