The peroxide-cured EPDM rubber sheet with a hardness of 70 Shore A is a special grade designed for particularly demanding technical applications. Peroxide cross-linking – in contrast to the usual sulphur cross-linking – gives the material significantly higher temperature resistance and noticeably better resilience. This makes it particularly suitable for steam and hot water applications, for permanently compressed seals with high resilience requirements, and for applications where standard EPDM reaches its limits.

The peroxide-cured EPDM rubber sheet with 70 Shore A is a peroxide-cross-linked special grade for particularly demanding technical applications. Peroxide cross-linking – in contrast to the usual sulphur cross-linking – gives the material significantly higher temperature resistance and noticeably better resilience. This makes it particularly suitable for steam and hot water applications, for permanently compressed seals with high recovery requirements and for applications where standard EPDM reaches its limits.
The defining characteristic of this grade is above all its high-temperature resistance: the operating range extends from –40 °C to +140 °C and is therefore the widest in our EPDM range. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent compression set of a maximum of 25 % – and this under the more stringent test condition of 100 °C over 22 hours. This value demonstrates outstanding elastic recovery and thus a permanently reliable sealing performance even at high temperatures.
Its resistance profile is also first-class. In ozone testing, the sheet shows no cracking whatsoever even at high ozone concentrations (200 pphm) and is therefore highly resistant to weathering and ageing. It offers excellent resistance to diluted and concentrated acids and alkalis. As is typical for EPDM, the material is not suitable for contact with oils and solvents. Mechanically, the sheet offers a minimum tensile strength of 90 kg/cm² (approximately 8.8 MPa), an elongation at break of at least 200 % and a tear strength of 25 kg/cm.
With a density of 1.25 g/cm³ and a black finish, the peroxide-cured EPDM sheet can be precisely cut to size, punched and processed into moulded seals – available by the metre and as bespoke cut-to-size sheets for demanding high-temperature, steam and chemical applications.
