FKM rubber sheet (70 Shore A)

The FKM rubber sheet made from fluorocarbon rubber (FPM) is the highest-performance elastomer in our range and is designed for the most demanding technical applications. It combines two properties that hardly any other material offers simultaneously: extreme heat resistance and outstanding resistance to oils, fuels, solvents and aggressive media. This makes it ideal for seals and components in the chemical, process and automotive industries, in plant and equipment engineering, and wherever high temperatures and aggressive media occur simultaneously.

The sheet’s characteristics are defined above all by its exceptional temperature range of –30 °C to +275 °C – a range that far exceeds that of all common standard elastomers and enables continuous use at very high temperatures. Even after 72 hours of heat ageing at 150 °C, hardness, tensile strength and elongation at break remain stable within tight tolerances.

Its chemical resistance profile is first-class: excellent resistance to ozone as well as to dilute and concentrated acids and alkalis, and very good resistance to oils and solvents. Volume swelling in oil is minimal even at 150 °C and in some cases even negative – evidence of the material’s exceptional resistance to media. This makes the sheet suitable for applications involving fuels, lubricants or solvents.

Mechanically, with a hardness of 70 ± 5 Shore A, the sheet offers a minimum tensile strength of 50 kg/cm² (approximately 4.9 MPa), an elongation at break of at least 200 %, a low compression set of no more than 35 % (tested under severe conditions at 150 °C) and a tear strength of 20 kg/cm. The sheet has a smooth finish on both sides.

With a density of 1.90 g/cm³ and a black finish, the FKM sheet can be precisely cut to size, die-cut and processed into moulded seals – available by the metre and as bespoke cut-to-size sheets to meet the most stringent requirements for temperature and media resistance.
