The food-grade FKM rubber sheet is the premier solution for hygienically sensitive applications under extreme conditions. It combines the exceptional properties of fluororubber – maximum temperature resistance and outstanding resistance to various media – with suitability for direct food contact and a light, clean appearance. This makes it particularly suitable for seals and components in food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing, where high temperatures, products containing fats and oils, or aggressive cleaning and sterilisation media are present simultaneously. The material is designed to food-grade standards for food contact; we can provide the relevant certificate of conformity on request.

A key feature of the sheet is its exceptional temperature range of –30 °C to +275 °C, which enables continuous use at very high temperatures and with demanding hot cleaning and sterilisation processes. Even after 72 hours of heat ageing at 150 °C, the properties remain stable within tight tolerances.

Its chemical resistance profile is also first-class: excellent resistance to ozone as well as to diluted and concentrated acids and alkalis, and very good resistance to oils and solvents. Volume swelling in oil is minimal, and in some cases negative, even at 150 °C – evidence of its exceptional resistance to fatty and oily media, such as those frequently encountered in food processing.

Mechanically, the sheet offers a minimum tensile strength of 50 kg/cm² (approximately 4.9 MPa) at a hardness of 65 ± 5 Shore A, an elongation at break of at least 250 %, a compression set of no more than 40 % (tested under severe conditions at 150 °C) and a tear strength of 20 kg/cm. With a density of 1.95 g/cm³ and in its white version, the FKM food-grade sheet can be cut to size, die-cut and processed into moulded seals – available by the metre and as bespoke cut-to-size sheets to meet the highest standards of hygiene, temperature and media resistance.
