The food-grade NBR rubber sheet is specifically designed for applications involving contact with foods containing fat and oil. Among elastomers, nitrile rubber (NBR) is the specialist in oil and grease resistance and is therefore the right choice wherever fatty products such as meat, cheese, cooking oils or baked goods are processed. The material is designed as food-grade quality for food contact; we can provide the relevant certificate of conformity on request.

A distinctive feature is its signal blue colouring. In the food industry, blue components have become established as a hygiene standard, as blue particles stand out visually from the food and can be detected immediately in the event of damage. The sheet therefore meets the requirements of modern hygiene and HACCP concepts and is particularly suitable for use as a seal, support or lining in equipment that comes into direct contact with food. Alternatively, the sheet is also available in a light-coloured, tasteless and odourless version.

In terms of resistance, the material demonstrates its strength against oils and fats: it has good oil resistance with low volume swelling, as well as good resistance to diluted acids and alkalis. Resistance to ozone and solvents is limited, which is why the sheet is not intended for outdoor applications subject to continuous weathering. The operating temperature range is from –25 °C to +110 °C.

Mechanically, the sheet delivers with a hardness of 60 ± 5 Shore A and a minimum tensile strength of 60 kg/cm² (approximately 5.9 MPa), an elongation at break of at least 350 %, a tear strength of 25 kg/cm and a low compression set of no more than 30 %, which ensures reliable recovery and a lasting sealing effect. With a density of 1.40 g/cm³, the food-grade NBR sheet can be cut to size, die-cut and fabricated – available by the metre and as bespoke cut-to-size sheets for sealing and support applications in the food industry.
