SI/MVQ silicone rubber sheet, red (60 Shore A)
Food-grade silicone rubber sheet (60 Shore A) – extremely temperature-resistant from –90 to +230 °C
The food-grade silicone rubber sheet (VMQ) is a specialised material for applications involving extreme temperature requirements and food contact. Its outstanding feature is its exceptionally wide operating temperature range from –90 °C to +230 °C – no other commonly used elastomer material covers such a wide range of cold and heat. This makes the sheet ideal for seals and linings in ovens, steam and sterilisation systems, in refrigeration technology, and wherever high or very low temperatures occur. The material is designed to food-grade standards for food contact; we can provide the relevant certificate of conformity on request.

Silicone also impresses with its physiological safety, neutral taste and odour, and excellent resistance to ozone, UV and weathering – even after prolonged thermal stress, its properties remain exceptionally stable (tested at 100 °C with only minimal change). The material offers excellent resistance to both diluted and concentrated acids and alkalis. However, standard silicone is not designed for contact with oils, fuels and solvents.
When selecting the material, it should be noted that silicone is a material designed for temperature and hygiene requirements, rather than for high mechanical loads: With a hardness of 60 ± 5 Shore A (or 40 ± 5 Shore A in the softer version), the sheet offers a tensile strength of 60 kg/cm² (approximately 5.9 MPa), an elongation at break of at least 250 % and a tear resistance of 20 kg/cm. Other grades are better suited to applications subject to high mechanical or abrasive stress.
The sheet is available in various versions – translucent, white, brick-red or blue – and is therefore also suitable for colour-coded or detectable applications. With a density of 1.20 g/cm³, the silicone sheet can be cut to size, die-cut and processed into moulded seals – available by the metre and as bespoke cut-to-size sheets for heat, cold and hygiene applications.
