Vibra PU is a polyurethane (PU) sheet that combines properties which conventional rubber materials cannot match. Polyurethane is regarded as the highest-performance material for applications subject to high levels of abrasion and mechanical stress: It combines a very high load-bearing capacity with outstanding abrasion and tear resistance, making it ideal for applications subject to heavy wear – such as scrapers, wear protection, linings or heavy-duty seals in mechanical and plant engineering.

Its mechanical properties set the standard: with an exceptionally high tensile strength of 25 MPa (29 MPa in the hardest grade) and an elongation at break of up to 500 % , polyurethane significantly outperforms conventional elastomers. Combined with its high abrasion resistance, this results in an exceptional service life under abrasive conditions. The sheet is available in three hardness grades: 70 Shore A (more elastic, adaptable), 80 Shore A (more dimensionally stable) and 90 Shore A (the hardest and most load-bearing) – allowing the grade to be precisely matched to the specific load.

Unlike most rubber grades, polyurethane also offers broad chemical resistance: it withstands oils, greases and certain solvents, as well as ozone, sunlight and weathering. This makes it suitable for wear-and-tear applications involving oil and for outdoor use. It should be noted that polyurethane is sensitive to prolonged exposure to moisture, hot water and steam (hydrolysis) and is therefore not intended for such applications. The operating temperature range is from –40 °C to +75 °C.

With a low density of 1,13 g/cm³ and its ochre-coloured, translucent finish, Vibra PU can be cut to size, punched and machined – available by the metre and as bespoke cut-to-size sheets for demanding wear protection and sealing applications.
