Basotect® G+ is an open-cell melamine foam based on thermosetting melamine resin, offering outstanding acoustic and fire-retardant properties. When combined with aluminium lamination on one or both sides, its range of applications is expanded to include additional functions relating to thermal insulation, moisture protection and mechanical stability.
The open-cell structure of Basotect® ensures excellent sound absorption, particularly in the mid and high frequency ranges. This significantly reduces reverberation times, making it ideal for use in building acoustics, technical installations or vehicle cabins. At the same time, the material meets the highest fire safety requirements: it is classified as building material class B1 in accordance with DIN 4102-1 and complies with EN 45545:2020. In the event of a fire, it produces only low smoke density and toxicity, meaning it can also be used in safety-critical applications such as aviation, railway technology or public buildings.
The aluminium lamination gives the foam additional properties: the metallic surface acts as a vapour barrier, protects against moisture ingress and improves thermal insulation performance. At the same time, it increases mechanical resistance to abrasion and damage. This makes Basotect® G+ with aluminium lamination particularly suitable for use in mechanical and plant engineering, in HVAC technology, and wherever a combination of acoustic insulation and thermal protection is required.
With a very low density of around 9 kg/m³, the material remains lightweight and easy to process. It is dimensionally stable, temperature-resistant up to approximately +240 °C and free from plasticisers, fibres and halogenated hydrocarbons.
Basotect® G+ with aluminium lamination thus combines the acoustic and fire protection benefits of the base foam with the additional protective and insulating functions of the aluminium surface, making it a high-performance solution for demanding industrial and construction applications.

Delivery form
The material is supplied as standard in the form of unedged sheets and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut-to-size piece according to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.
The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.
