K-FLEX ST is a closed-cell insulation material made of synthetic rubber (NBR/EPDM) that has proven itself worldwide in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems. Thanks to its fine-cell structure, it not only offers excellent thermal insulation but also acts as an integrated vapour barrier. This reliably prevents the formation of condensation and provides long-term protection for pipes, fittings and tanks against corrosion under insulation (CUI).

With a very low thermal conductivity of approx. 0.036 W/mK (at 0 °C), K-FLEX ST ensures an efficient reduction in energy losses. The high water vapour diffusion resistance μ ≥ 7,000 ensures that the insulating effect is maintained permanently even under difficult climatic conditions. This makes the material equally suitable for refrigeration applications, where condensation is a major risk, as well as for hot water and heating pipes, where energy efficiency is a priority.

A key advantage of K-FLEX ST lies in its high flexibility and ease of installation. The material is available in roll or sheet form and in thicknesses ranging from 6 to 50 mm. It can be cut cleanly, adapted to curves and fittings, and installed without difficulty even on uneven surfaces. Even at low temperatures it stays elastic and maintains its fit, facilitating installation and enhancing operational reliability.

Typical applications are diverse: pipe insulation in HVAC systems, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, heat exchangers, building services, as well as applications in the automotive and rail sectors, where high insulation performance, reliable condensation prevention and certified fire safety are equally required.

Delivery form

The material is supplied as standard in trimmed sheet form and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.

The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A: K-FLEX ST is a closed-cell synthetic rubber foam specially developed for the thermal insulation of pipes and air conditioning systems. It has low thermal conductivity, is vapour-tight and prevents condensation on cold pipes. K-FLEX ST is a standard material in the refrigeration and HVAC sectors.
A: Thanks to its elastic, closed-cell structure, K-FLEX ST has a damping effect on flow noise and structure-borne noise in pipework. It is not designed as a primary sound absorber, but when used as pipe insulation, it combines thermal insulation with a useful noise-reducing side effect.

A: K-FLEX ST tubular material is cut lengthways and pulled over the pipe. The joint is permanently bonded using K-FLEX adhesive. Sheet material is wrapped around the pipe and bonded. The material is flexible and can be easily worked around bends and fittings.

A: K-FLEX ST is available in various wall thicknesses (typically 9 to 32 mm), as rolls and in pipe sections. The choice of the correct wall thickness depends on the operating temperature, the pipe diameter and the requirements for thermal insulation or cooling insulation.
