Double-shell noise barrier with glass fibre core
The “BarSonic 42/46” series of sandwich sound insulation panels combines a flexible heavy-duty plastic film with a high-strength glass fibre core, thereby forming a high-performance double-shell element for sound insulation in interior construction. The system has been specially developed to effectively reduce both airborne and structure-borne sound in lightweight partition walls, sound barriers or room acoustics applications. The hybrid structure combines the high mass of the heavy-duty film with the structural stability and dimensional stability of the glass fibre core, resulting in excellent acoustic performance: on the one hand, sound is attenuated by the mass-dominant film; on the other hand, the glass fibre-reinforced core prevents direct sound transmission and provides rigidity and impact resistance.

The system has been specially developed to effectively reduce both airborne and structure-borne sound in lightweight partition walls, sound barriers or room acoustics applications. The hybrid structure combines the high mass of the heavy-duty film with the structural stability and dimensional stability of the glass fibre core, resulting in excellent acoustic performance: on the one hand, sound is attenuated by the mass-dominant film; on the other hand, the glass fibre-reinforced core prevents direct sound transmission and provides rigidity and impact resistance.
Thanks to its temperature resistance up to 150 °C, fire rating in accordance with EN 13501-1 and very low thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/m·K, this material is suitable not only for standard sound insulation solutions but also for demanding technical applications in commercial settings, machine rooms or building services. Installation is quick and efficient: standard panel sizes are available and can be custom-made if required.
Typical applications include room acoustic optimisation for machine casings, pressure relief or supply lines, sound-insulating bulkheads in building services installations, and partition walls in lightweight construction where both sound insulation and fire protection aspects must be taken into account.
Delivery form
The material is supplied as standard in the form of unedged sheets and can also be produced as a custom-fit cut-to-size piece according to individual dimensions on request. Precise machining and short lead times enable easy integration into a wide variety of applications.
The sheets are supplied in film packaging and must be stored in a dry place. Prolonged exposure to direct UV light must be avoided.

A: Glass fibres are significantly more temperature-resistant than pure polyester fibres. Vibra®fiber with a glass fibre core is suitable for applications involving elevated temperatures, for example near exhaust systems, high-temperature machinery or in vehicle engine compartments.
