Measures for retrofitting sound insulation to the window

Traffic noise and other sources of noise are unfortunately a constant companion in many places - especially in cities and on busy roads or pedestrian zones, people are deprived of sleep at night because of the noise. Vibraplast AG has a wide range of foam products that can be used in mobile or stationary applications to reduce noise.

Insulate roller shutter box and window shaft

They line the roller shutter box and reduce the noise generated by this resonating body. Various foams or heavy foils can be used.
You seal the window well with our flexible PUR recycled foams/composite foams. These composite foams are very suitable for a high level of insulation, as these foams have a high weight.

The thicker you choose the foam, the better the insulation will be. However, a certain basic thickness is required for the foam to hold in the window well at all. Here you can assume a thickness of around 80 mm. As window wells have different dimensions, we are happy to cut them to your specifications.

The width and height of the panels should be about 20 mm longer to ensure that the panel presses firmly into the shaft. The panels are flexible and adapt very well.

You can of course combine points 1 and 2 and insulate both the roller shutter box and clamp a foam board in the window shaft to achieve the best possible insulation. You can remove the panels during the day and put them back in the window well in the evening.

Effective sound deadening of sheet metal surfaces

External sheet metal surfaces, such as an aluminium window sill, can generate unpleasant noise when it rains. By applying a Teroform® plastic heavy-duty film or a Terodem® bitumen heavy-duty film, the exposed sheet metal is soundproofed, i.e. the noise is reduced. The heavy foils are self-adhesive and can easily be stuck to the underside of the sheet metal.

Seal and insulate windows using foam strips

Vibra®zell rubber strips are ideal for such cases. The versatile cellular rubber tape made of black CR neoprene quality is a high-quality seal that is ideal for sealing between two materials or as damping. The material also has very good resistance to ageing, weathering, UV, oil and chemicals.

The Vibra®zell sealing tape is waterproof, dustproof, prevents draughts, insulates against cold and heat, has a noise and vibration-insulating effect and is slip-resistant. Thanks to the closed cell structure, we achieve a high resilience.

The temperature application range is -30° to +80° Celsius.
