PE Ethafoam®, the ESD antistatic foam.

The extruded pink PE packaging foam materials are excellent energy absorbers and ideal as protective packages for a wide variety of applications thanks to their ease of processing. This antistatic ESD (electrostatic discharge) PE foam is designed for electrostatically sensitive devices and components. We offer the PE foam in standard sheets of different thicknesses and the color pink. We offer cut-to-fit or fully finished products based on the customer's diagrams.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Both products are PE foams and have basically the same properties and application areas. Vibracell feels softer than ethafoam. Vibracell is more elastic, because of the less dimensional stability than Ethafoam. Ethafoam can be machined more easily due to its more compact structure, as a result the edges fray less when milling than with Vibracell. Ethafoam and Vibracell have different panel formats, which can have a positive/negative effect on the utilisation of the panels, depending on the cut.

PE cannot be easily coated or glued. There are still various possibilities to produce PE foams (Ethafoam, Vibracell, Plastazote) to a carrier or to itself. -products can be bonded to each other with double-sided adhesive foil. -Hot glue can be used to fix individual parts. This type of gluing is intended more as an assembly aid than for a permanent connection. -Another possibility is to apply a spray adhesive on both sides of the parts - let it flash off well Join the parts and press them together. -The safest connection of two PE parts is achieved by hot air or mirror welding. What does not work and why: -Water-based adhesives/dispersion adhesives cannot be used, because they are not airtight Do not allow material to dry out.

In Switzerland, PE or PUR foams cannot be recycled. They are disposed of with household waste and are "thermally recycled" in the incineration plant. This material is welcome in the incineration plant because it has a high calorific value and burns very cleanly.
