Effective insulation
Heavy-duty films (Terodem® and Teroform®) applied to sheet metal surfaces such as wheel arches, doors or floor panels are particularly effective. They reliably dampen structure-borne noise and significantly improve the acoustic performance of the bodywork. In addition, recycled PUR foam or multi-layer combination mats (Teroform®Kombi) are used, which absorb airborne sound whilst also providing greater thermal comfort – for example, in wall structures or in the cab area.
Another important aspect is thermal insulation. When camping in particular, it is crucial not to overheat in summer and to stay warm on colder nights. Closed-cell foams such as Armaflex®, K-FLEX ST, Vibra®Flex or PE foam (Plastazote MP15FR) have proven their worth here. They are moisture-resistant, flexible and easy to install in walls, ceilings and floor structures.
Environmentally friendly polyester fibre fleeces (Fiberform 62T SL) are also becoming increasingly popular. They are recyclable, rot-proof and offer a pleasant, fabric-like feel. In combination with other materials, they provide balanced thermal and acoustic insulation.
Flammable or flame-retardant materials should be used, particularly in the electrical, heating or kitchen areas. Melamine resin foams (Basotect® G+) are an ideal choice here, as they offer excellent sound absorption and meet high fire safety requirements.
Many motorhome owners insulate their vehicles not only to improve comfort but also to prevent condensation or reduce noise whilst driving. From floor to ceiling, from the doors to the driver’s cab – every area of the motorhome can be optimised, and the effect is usually noticeable immediately.
