Silphon® PUR foam

Silphon® PUR foams offer professional sound and noise insulation in various profile shapes, such as flat foam, dimples, pyramids and trapezoids, as well as in the form of soundproofing mats and studio absorbers. These materials are ideal as acoustic foam for walls and ceilings and for sound insulation in recording studios, technical rooms, vehicles, and industrial facilities. They are available in multiple SKUs, some with a polyurethane skin, PVC surface, or fabric lamination.

A: All three are open-cell PUR acoustic foams that absorb sound. The difference lies in the surface structure: dimpled foam has round protrusions and scatters sound evenly in all directions. Pyramid foam tapers to a point and is particularly suitable for broadband absorption. Trapezoidal foam has parallel ribs and is often chosen when directional sound control is required. For most industrial applications, all three variants deliver comparable results – the choice often depends on space constraints and aesthetics.
A: Silphon® PUR foams meet the fire safety requirements of MVSS 302, which makes them particularly suitable for applications in vehicles and vehicle construction. For applications with stricter requirements (e.g. railway standard EN 45545 or B1 according to DIN 4102-1), we recommend Basotect® G+ or the Silphon® Yellow-Foam FR variant.
A: Silphon® PUR foams are suitable for continuous use at temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +120 °C. This makes them suitable for outdoor installations, refrigeration systems and industrial plants with elevated operating temperatures.
A: Yes. All Silphon® PUR foams are available as standard sheets and can be cut to size according to individual specifications on request. Variants with factory-applied self-adhesive backing are also available and make installation considerably easier.
